# Magic Resume

> Magic Resume is an open-source AI resume workbench: the AI proposes edits in place and you accept or skip each one. MIT-licensed core, 19 templates, six modes, cloud sync.

Magic Resume is open source under the MIT licence. The core runs entirely in the
browser with no account or backend; a hosted edition adds multi-device sync and
built-in AI. Both editions ship the same 19 templates and the same six modes:
create, optimize, analyze, translate, interview, export.

The defining behaviour: the AI never rewrites a resume silently. Every change is
proposed in place with a reason attached — shown as a red deletion and a green
insertion — and takes effect only when the user accepts it. Any proposal can be
skipped.

- **Is Magic Resume free?** The open-source edition is free forever and self-hostable. The cloud edition adds sync and built-in AI with a generous free tier — upgrade when you need more.
- **Is my resume data safe?** Sync is encrypted in transit and at rest, the data stays yours, and you can export everything anytime. Want fully offline? Self-host the open-source edition.
- **Will AI change my resume without asking?** Never. Every edit arrives as a proposal — red cuts, green adds, with a reason — and nothing applies until you accept it.
- **What can I export?** One-click ATS-friendly PDF, plus JSON in and out for backup and migration.
- **How is it different from other resume builders?** It's not a form filler — it's a workbench that knows your target role: create, optimize, analyze, translate and rehearse, all on one canvas.
